Why Use Cloth

Financially Better

Using cloth nappies will save thousands of dollars during the time your baby is in nappies. An average stash of cloth nappies will cost you between $200 and $1000 depending on the brand/type you choose. Although this may seem like a large amount of money, remember that once you have the nappies, they will last for the next 2-3 years, or longer if you use them on subsequent children. Even if you spent $800 on a stash of cloth nappies you would still be saving upwards of $2000 as compared to disposables. That’s enough for a family holiday!

Better for Bub

By becoming aware of what exactly is in the products you use, you can have control over what comes into contact with your childs most senstive areas. Think about what a disposable nappy contains: super absorbants (gel crystals) which are banned from use in womens hygiene products because of their link to Toxic Shock Syndrome, chlorine bleached wood pulp, petrochemicals just to name a few. Now think of what a cloth nappy contains: fabric made from environmentally sustainable crops (which are often organic). Bamboo fabric is known to have anti-fungal properties which stops any bacteria growing in the fabric, even after repeated washing. The fabric is highly breathable and so keeps air circulating around bubs bottom.

Environmentally Responsible

Cloth nappies don’t contribute to landfill. We already have enough of that, why waste more of our beautiful country to garbage? Every single disposable nappy ever used could still be sitting around in landfill, scientific research has shown can take up to 500 years for disposables to decompose. New studies have shown that cloth nappies are a better envronmental and financial option when all the pros and cons of both sides are weighed up. Cloth nappies do use a bit of water to wash, but not a large amount and they certainly don’t contribute to landfill, once you’re done with them pass them on to someone else….and RECYCLE!

The Cute Factor!

Lets face it…cloth nappies are cute! As a parent you change a lot of nappies, why not make the task fun and enjoyable instead of one to dread!
