Why Use Cloth

Financially Better

Using cloth nappies will save thousands of dollars during the time your baby is in nappies. An average stash of cloth nappies will cost you around $1000 depending on the brand/type you choose. Although this may seem like a large amount of money, remember that once you have the nappies, they will last for the next 2-3 years, or longer if you use them on subsequent children.Compare the tables and see just how much you can save.

Better for Bub

By becoming aware of what exactly is in the products you use, you can have control over what comes into contact with your childs most senstive areas. Think about what a disposable nappy contains: super absorbants (gel crystals) which are banned from use in womens hygiene products because of their link to Toxic Shock Syndrome, chlorine bleached wood pulp, petrochemicals just to name a few. Now think of what a cloth nappy contains: fabric made from environmentally sustainable crops (which are often organic). Bamboo fabric is known to have anti-fungal properties which stops any bacteria growing in the fabric, even after repeated washing. The fabric is highly breathable and so keeps air circulating around bubs bottom.

Environmentally Responsible

1.375 BILLION disposable nappies
are used annually in Australia and
New Zealand, equalling 3.75 MILLION
dumped every single day.....

Every disposable nappy ever dumped still exists today, as they take centuries to break down. Eco-friendly disposables dumped in landfill don't get the required conditions to degrade and so don't break down as they are meant to. Washing/hanging out/putting away nappies for a bub in cloth fulltime takes just 7 minutes a day. Such a small daily contribution can make a huge difference to the planet our grandchildren inherit.

Cloth nappies contribute very little to landfill. We already have enough landfill, why waste more of our beautiful country to garbage? Many landfill sites are becoming contaminated by disposable nappies which have been dumped still containing poo, this could be a huge public health risk. New studies have shown that cloth nappies are a better environmental and financial option, with 40% less impact than single use nappies. Cloth nappies do use a bit of water to wash, but not a large amount and certainly not as much as each single use nappy. Once you’re done with your cloth nappies, them pass them on to someone else….and RECYCLE!

The Cute Factor!

Lets face it…cloth nappies are cute! As a parent you change a lot of nappies, why not make the task fun and enjoyable instead of one to dread!
